"Almost 2 years ago now, I underwent a knee operation, which involved a cartilage transplant. While this is different to a knee reconstruction the rehabilitation and recovery potential is perhaps far more demanding and uncertain. Initially my surgeon told me that I would never run again. To someone who at the time was an established first grade cricketer and keen sportsman, this was pretty devastating.
